Title: Trophy Red Dot vs Banner 1.5-4.5x32 Scope
Post by: cljohnson24 on March 17, 2016, 09:01:39 AM

I have both of these and am replacing a fixed 2.5 Banner for a bit more eye relief after being smacked a couple times afield. I just can't decide which to go with. I've shot them both and the eye relief issue is resolved with either one.

With tight baseball size patterns in close, I'm concerned about parallax/consistent eye placement and the possibility of it costing me a shot. I've taken 3 birds where I hunt where the scope's low light ability helped me identify and make shot's on birds hung up on other side of creek at 40+.

How much does parallax/cheek weld affect shots in close with a 1.5x scope? I hate to give up the scope's characteristics, but if it might cause me to miss in close then I might prefer the Red Dot, because my pattern is real tight inside 30.

Not much help right now, but I just got the Bushnell Banner in the mail today.  I had to replace a Nikon that wouldn't adjust when trying to sight in.  I will be setting it up tomorrow and hunting with it this weekend.  I will let you know what I think after the weekend.  I've used a Truglo red dot as well, but prefer the scope.

I think I'm going to stick with the scope's this year. I already have them mounted and sighted in now, and the cost to start over would be downright prohibitive with Fed Heavyweights I'm using.
