Title: Weatherby SA-459 Turkey
Post by: GunRunner on March 15, 2016, 06:51:02 PM

Has anyone purchased and tried out the Weatherby SA-459 Turkey Xtra Green?  Very nice looking gun for $500 to $550. How does it pattern?

Where in the world are you finding them for that price? Everywhere I see them they are at least 600-699.

I got mine from a good friend and his cost was like 530, I gave him 650 after shipping and tax. That's a great deal on a nice gun.

The actual turkey version or the PA pump gun?

Is the SA-459 that you got the one that doesn't have the vent rib?  Would you happen to have a pattern picture with those LB's and Indian Creek choke or some 10" circle numbers that you could share?  A friend is thinking of getting the same choke for her SA-459.  Thanks!

It's the actual turkey model .with the 3" long beard #6 1 7/8 oz load it putting around 200 in 10" at 40 with Indian creek black diamond .665 .i was pretty disappointed with the patterns until I got the IC choke .

200 sounds pretty decent.  I think they will be pleased with that.  Thanks!

I just patterned mine today. This was at a lasered and marked 40 yards at 55 degrees with a stout 15-20 mph constantly whipping around. I used the Longbeard 3 inch 1 7/8oz 5's.

That looks like a great pattern for #5's.  What choke were you using?  Is your SA-459 the new one with the vent rib or the older Turkey model without the vent rib.  The one that Basspro had for $499 was the SA-459 Turkey without the vent rib.

This is the new updated version Xtra green model with the vent rib. The choke is a Sumtoy .665 that William spun up for me the other day.

Sweet, those are nice looking guns.  That pattern should give a gobbler a headache for sure.
