Title: BUSHNELL TRS-25 RED DOT MOUNT
Post by: SKFOOTER on March 15, 2016, 05:28:43 PM
Will a Bushnell TRS-25 mount on the vent rib of a shotgun??  If so, is an additional mount needed??  Thanks. :OGturkeyhead:

No they have an integral mount that fits a weaver style base.

You'll need a mount, but Aimtech has you covered as long as you're shooting a Remington or Mossberg. They build a mount called a "Rib-rider". It's basically a piece of picatinny rail that's been split down the center & then had the insides of each half are milled out to index on the vent rib, sandwichIng the rib between the 2 halves. It's a real solid mount.

Seems like on their website that the site would be mounted too far up the barell. Have you had any issues with this? I just bought a trs-25 as well and was going to have to have my gun tapped this summer but this seems like a good solution instead

No issues at all. I've had one on a 12 ga 870 for about 10 years now...no problems. It does put the optic up forward, kind of like a scout mount. This forces the vision forward. Shoot with both eyes open and focus on the bird...fast and accurate. It shouldn't have much,  if any,  effect on the balance of the gun. There's very little weight to that sight/mount combo. You can order them from Natchez shooter's.

I drilled and tapped my Beretta 390 20ga in order to put the Bushnell TRS25 on a picatinny rail...I love it and it is rock solid.
