Is there a preferred pot call surface/striker material for doing the purr and kee kee run call or can these be don on ant surface.
Purr can be done on any surface with the right striker combo. Kee Kee can be slightly more finicky, but doesn't require a specific surface. I'd say the striker is more in play with both purr and kee kee. I have one crystal call that stuggles to get the kee kee with a dymondwood striker, but will make your ears bleed with the yellowheart!
For me personally, I get the best clucks and purrs from ceramic. If I'm looking to kee kee or kee kee run, I go with a crystal. That being said, I can kee kee and cluck and purr on ceramic, crystal, and titanium. Many others like aluminum for kee kees.
I have an old Preston Pittman Glass surface with plastic pot and an acrylic striker that will make as pretty a cluck and purr and you would like to hear.
