Anyone hunt public ground in southern Ohio? Wondering how crowded it gets.

I hunt SW Ohio but on private land. I have heard the East Fork has birds, but if you don't get one within the first 2 or 3 days it's hopeless due to the pressure.

If I were going to hunt public i would hunt Wayne national forest. Parcels all over se Ohio some big some small. I'd stay away from wma.

I hunt Wayne National a lot, week days I see very few people.

As with most states our Turkey population seems to be down, at least in se Ohio.

I'm sure different areas will show better results. I hunt mostly Perry, Hocking, Athens and Fairfield counties.

I hunt public quite a bit, weekends you will see people. Hunt Mon. through Thurs. if possible. Despite what some think you can still kill one after the first 2 or 3 days.

Dispite what other have said it can be a human obsticle course on the week days as well. Especially with the "no common sense i can go anywhere because it is piblic and i dont care about anyone else but me" mushroom hunters. They do not care if you are parked there and they want to be there they will walk around even if they hear a bird gobbling and you calling. Sorry about my rant.
