Title: 11-87 Deer Barrel
Post by: Ozarks Hillbilly on March 07, 2016, 05:34:18 PM
11-87 "Deer Barrel" 21" Rifle sight and Rem choke. Has anyone played with one for turkey? Have a IC. 665 and Rino .670 going to try. Just wondered if anyone had experience with one or not since they are marketed more for shooting slugs than shot through.

No, but I've been wondering the same thing myself. I missed one on GB last week for $135!

I have that barrel on one of my 11-87s and it shoots as well as my 21" 870s. It really likes a Jellyhead .665 and no.5 Rem. Nitro.

I configured an 11-87 with that barrel a few years ago.  Initially I used Federal Premiums 3", but switched to Winchester Longbeard XR, both with #6 shot. I'm extremly pleased with the current set up.  I have a Kick's Gobblin' Thunder .655 choke.
As always, pattern your gun with the choke and shells you intend to use.  Once you arrive at a satisfactory combination, your in business.
  Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!
