Okay, here's a legit one. Was visiting with the fella that lets me trap and hunt his land not far from my house. He was going on and on about how he wanted to get into turkey hunting. Needless to say, I gave him a few calls that I had here. A few were straight outta my vest. Others were calls I'd not used much. He really liked the sound of one of my slate calls. Ended up contacting the maker and bought one for him. He was very thankful and offered to pay for the call. Couldn't take it. He'd been generous to me for some time and kinda felt like I owed him.
"Loaned" my neighbor a knife for his elk hunt in New Mexico last fall. He shot his elk and came back to give me the knife back. Said he really liked it and wanted to know where to find one. Told him Buck stopped making them some time ago. He handed it back to me and I told him to keep it. He was quite thankful. That's the stuff that makes me happy.
Gave a custom-made elk antler and Coco duck call to a youngin' this year. Took me 30 years, but I finally figured out what I like in a duck and a goose call and that I don't need more than 2 of each...got plenty to give away going forward too...

I just gave my stepson some fishing lures and as always he will get some Turkey loads.
Was at a flea market with a biddy and a very snoody woman came around looking at things and thumbing her nose. Her son and his grandma came along behind and he was very interested in game calls ( he was about 4 ) He picked up a primos power crow and blew it and was amazed...grandma laughed...mom looked like she wanted to kill everyone. I gave that kid the power crow and told him it works best if you blow as hard as you possibly can. You could hear that kid going down the road in the car for half a mile.
My latest give away was not hunting related. I had a friend who was going through a divorce. He had never gone to church. Didn't know the Lord. I spent a lot of time talking with him and I just heard the Lord tell me I needed to give him my bible. It was a brand new bible and very expensive, covered in embossed leather. He didn't want to take it, but I insisted. He hasn't called me to tell me he is saved yet, but I knew what I had to do. Great news as they did not get a divorce and are doing well.
