Title: Choke constriction for 18.5"
Post by: mozer67 on March 06, 2016, 06:26:22 PM
I'm going to be shooting Win. LB #5 or #6, what would be a good constriction for my 18.5" mossberg 590 HD gun I've had threaded for choke tubes? Thanks!

Is the 590 back bored like the 835?

I'm going to have to do a little bit of research, I'm not sure about that.

Generally shorter barrels like tighter chokes, but that's not set in stone.  What size choke do you have now? And what kind of chokes does it take?

I've got it threaded for remchoke because I had a couple left from my old gun. I shot a .655 rob Roberts that I had but wasn't real happy with pattern, inconsistent. Maybe I should try something more open? Thanks for your help!

I dont think barrel length has anything to do with choke constriction. My 18" barrel shoots many chokes well.
