season is coming up soon for some of our guys
me, i gotta wait til 5 weeks from tomorrow (april 11) for illinois' first northern zone season
i hunt the west central part of the state with private ground to hunt in three different counties
have two tags in hand and waiting for the lottery draw for my third and final tag
think i am gonna slip out a morning or two this week ... anxious to hear those first gobbles!
so ... when and where is the rest of our team hunting?
Oklahoma, Missouri, and maybe Kansas
Good ol' Louisiana! Hoping a Texas Rio hunt materializes over at my Uncle's with my pawpaw, or a quick Mississippi trip over to our teammate Tiny's place. Working as a Defense Contractor for the Army pays the bills and supports the habit, but makes time off tough. They "prefer" all time off be done in July & December during the soldier's block leave.
Southern zone of New York. Unfortunately, I will not have much time available to add another trip outside of my home state. Good luck to all.

Only 13 days.. March 20th is the opener here in SC. We went and listened last Saturday and found 5 different roosted birds. One location will be an easy approach, and the dominant bird gobbled for over an hour. Heard a lot of fighting going on too. I think he will be my first target.
