Woke up this morning in the dark and checked the thermometer. 1 degree above freezing. Too awake to go back to bed. So took my coffee mug and got in the truck and drove over to the family property.
I generally don't even like to think of turkey hunting this early....................watched pot never boils.................. Christmas never comes kinda thing. It's 7 weeks til season here.
But I went over and took a walkabout anyways. Heard two groups of gobbling birds. They are still all wadded up and jakes gobbling with the toms. But roughly guessing I heard 8-10 birds.
Now the wait....................................
Nice! Weather is supposed to be in the 70s this week so I will be getting up a few mornings myself. Ready to hear that first gobble.
Glad to hear it. :icon_thumright: We've got some decent weather coming next week and It's going to make it hard not to get out and take a look around.

That's what I enjoy most about our rifle season. The birds finally come across the creek in the fall of the year. Listening to those birds gobble in the mornings is awesome. Realizing that it's only November at that point is quite agonizing however. Glad you heard some birds though.
Thats exciting! I might get out scouting a new property later this afternoon. That'll be my first time out. Hopefully later this week I can get out of a morning and possibly hear my first gobble of the year.
Good luck to everyone!!
I'm going scouting the next two mornings here in PA before work. It's going to get warm and can't wait to hear that first gobble of the year.

Well it's going on in a woods near you. Happy listening. ;)
That will warm you up on a cold morning!!
It has been extremely warm here all February and into March, but for some weird reason I have not seen a single turkey yet. It would be nice to hear a gobble because that always gets me fired up.

They were fired up this morning! I wanted so bad to set up and start hunting...hard to just walk away and go to work!!
I made my first trip sunday and I'm heading out again this morning.
I know it's early but it's just too hard not to get excited with this warm spell!
JK Spurs - where do you roost? I curious since they're fired up. Great news for sure.

PA...kind of hit and miss right now. Yesterday morning it was 20 degrees and they were on fire...today was 30 degrees warmer and not a peep...go figure.
