After watching his I'm too embarrassed to admit what I carry in mine.  I'm not much of a MacGyver type so I try to prepare for every potential failure.  If you had my luck you would understand my OCD when it comes to being prepared.

I guess first thing for me is I don't use a vest any more, I have trimmed down what I carry to a small pack...

So here's my "Pack Dump" basic gear in no particular order

Small LED light
Water bottle / Granola bars (2)
Shells
Knife
TP
Flydown Wing
Locator Calls: Crow, Owl, Peacock, Goose
Cody World Class Slate, MAD Glass Call, 4 Strikers, Emery Cloth and Scratch Pad
Binoculars
Ratchet Cutters
Small Camera stand for Cell
6 Diaphragm Calls
Gloves & Face Mask
a couple of bags for Morels
and my turkey chair

A few things outside of the pack too, of course this all depends on the hunt if we are filming and who I am with...

MK M GOBL

Here's my pack!

I carry everything but my wife... 3 box calls, 4 different type pot calls, 4 mouth calls, 7 strikers, chalk, 2 pair gloves, 2 head nets, small pen light, water, extra batteries, nikon compact binos, shells, large folded black garbage bag, sand paper, scratch pad and S & W 380 bodyguard with laser. I carry all this in my camo range bag.. I also carry a small soft camo cooler with snacks, Lunch and extra cold water. I always hunt from before daylight until around 2:30 in the afternoon. I've had a lot of gobblers hear me of a morning calling and come back later in the morning or around lunch looking for that hen he hear early that morning. Always guys have you some good blinds. Remember patience kills more turkeys than anything..

Plastic bag for innards
Been carrying a wing sometimes

Well, this is going to be embarrassing after seeing Strickland's video but:

-4 pots: halloran crystal mistress, Yingling crystal over slate, MAD Aluminator and either my McKinnis long slate or knight and hale ol' yeller
-Primos slick stick
-Several strikers
-box call: Planned to carry the McKinnis box but just got a Lonnie Mabry box and have committed to an SS box so who knows? Depends on the mood I guess.
-SS scratch box
-diaphragms
-locators: crow and owl
-gobble tube
-tube call
-shears
-saw
-2 pairs gloves
-2 headnets
-field tags and tape to attach
-pencil
-water bottle
-TP
-decoys: avian breeder and Cherokee sports 3/4 strut inflatable jake
-shells

Don't really need all of this while hunting around home but when I'm at the camp and hunting back around home, the birds are pressured way more. It sucks carrying it all but I've just had too many times they'll respond to one call and not another.

What is everyone carrying shears n saws for? I normally set up quickly n don't give the woods a haircut. No disrespecting anyone's methods but what's so important about them? Curious to why they're being carried? To me seems so unnecessary?
Title: Re: So What's in Your Vest?

I carry them because I like to get snuggled into brush.  Sometime need to do some trimming.  Also good for cutting branches to build a semi-blind.  Maybe I'm paranoid, but I like to hide as well as I can.

Actually sorta what I figured. I'm more concerned w setting up quickly n quietly. I'm normally near the birds when I set up so extra noise/motion is a no no. I do w my daughters set up a blind to hide 3 of us n do that very close to the birds so that may seem excessive but w them I wanna hide any motion or getting ready to shoot so I do understand, the blind is heavier than snips

Mine is pretty boring....
License and pencil
A spare mouth call

Pc of chalk
A small slate and a striker that plays well on it
1 trumpet call
3 shells
Got a paracord tote coming, trying to lighten up, leather one before
Small pair of pruning snips
That's about it

Toilet paper

I also carry a knife and a handkerchief in my pants pockets, and a foam seat hooked on my belt.

4-6 pot calls.
5-6 strikers.
Compass.
Tp.
Water bottle.
Gloves.
Headnet.
Jerky.
7 shells.
Snake bite kit.
Small binoculars.
Rangerfinder.
Crow call.
Owl hooter.
Zip ties.
Sharpie fine marker.
License.
8-12 diaphram calls on a lanyard.
Turkey tote.
1 hen decoy.
2 cell phones.
Knife.
Lighter.
I like to cover ground and am an explorer by nature. I hunt alone a lot so I like to be prepared. I think nothing of a 6 or 8 mile jaunt so I try to keep it realistic. I can carry that stuff all day in these mountains. Don't use locators much and never first thing in the morning but I like to have them in case.

couple shells
2 pot calls
1 box call
2 strikers
couple spare mouth calls
mask
gloves
orange bandana
small pruners
small bottle of bug spray
crow call
thermocell (later in the season)
My go to mouth calls are in a case around my neck.  Lots of days the only thing that comes out of the vest are the gloves mask and shells.

•   6-10 diaphragm calls (in small tote on a lanyard)
•   Gobble call (also on lanyard)
•   Owl call (morning hunts only)
•   6 shells (3 go in the gun right off as I am generally in mountain lion country)
•   Binoculars
•   Camera
•   Hat/mask/gloves (stored in back pouch and put on before walking out)
•   TP
•   Utility tool
•   Water

If I were in lion country, I'd have shells in the tube as well. The first two for the cat and the last one for me.

A 20 oz bottle of Water
Some Dried Fruit (figs, apricots, mango, etc.)
8 Shells
Compact Binoculars
Small Compass
Brush Clippers
ThermaCell & refills
T.P. & Wipes
Disposable Lighter
Pen Light & spare batteries
2 pair Camo Gloves
2 Headnets
Knife
Signed Permission
Crow Call (I seldom use)
1 Long Box
1 Slate Pot
1 Glass Pot
3 Strikers
4 Mouth Calls
Scotch Brite & small piece of Drywall Screen
A few Zip Ties

Pocket Camera (sometimes)
I always carry one (9,000+/- year old) Stone Spear Point in my vest so the spirit of the hunt is always with me.
It also reminds me how much easier it is to hunt turkeys these days compared to the way the ancient ones hunted.

Thanks for the tips and the good luck. I got my vest ready yesterday and i kept thinking "where am I going to put all this? How am I going to sit comfortably?" So I will probably be trimming a few things off the list. I may look into a different vest too. Mine seems long and bunches up when I sit down. I don't want to be uncomfortable when I'm working a bird.
