Title: 20 OR 25 YARDS?
Post by: reflexl on March 03, 2016, 05:50:15 PM
I typically pattern at 25 and 40 yards. I set it up at 25 as a matter of convenience because of a hump of dirt. I notice that many pattern at 20 and 40 yards. Do any of you consider it a standard to pattern at 20 yards?

I tests every ten yards between 20-50 to check for gaps in case I underestimate the range or have one come in too close, then I use those ranges to set decoys up at those distances to make sure I shoot only within the guns optimal ranges. Sometimes I will set up a tiny orange flag at 40yds in the field and a decoy or two at 20-30, just depends.

I start at 15 feet!  I am more concerned with point of impact, make sure she shoots straight then check patterns, luckily my sbe2 is dead on poi/poa!

Of the half dozen or so turkey loads I have shot through it, all have a killing pattern to 40!
