Title: Dixie Deer Classic Raleigh, N.C. March 4-6, 2016
Post by: Cut N Run on March 02, 2016, 07:10:04 PM
Even though this show is primarily a deer hunting show, the North Carolina State Turkey Calling Championships are held during this show.  There's always guest speakers for seminars and plenty of turkey call makers selling their products.  Eddie Salter is one of this year's guest speakers and he will be putting on his program all three days.

I plan to be there Saturday, because I still have woods to scout and ponds to fish on Sunday.

Me and a buddy are also going Saturday.  Gonna scout his lease in the morning and see if anything is talking, then head to the show.

Probably watch the calling competition and then check out the different call makers.  I have been convincing myself to not spend as much money as I did last year at Hallorans booth.

Love going to the classic. If you are there later on Sunday evening you can catch some killer calls at great prices !

I am part of the Sunday morning crowd. Not near the crowds so you can actually look at what you want and not feel rushed to move on and can have a reasonable conversation with the vendors. Overall a great show and yearly event I look forward to.

I think I've only missed four shows in the history of the event from having to work out of town or fish a tournament.  I always run into old friends, school mates, and customers of mine from when I worked in the sporting industry.  It is amazing how much the Deer Classic has grown over the years and how big the crowds are it continues to draw.

Tommy Walton with Tom Teasers always gets some of my money so I can restock mouth calls.

Went yesterday with my 4 year old.  I ended up toting him on my shoulders most of the time but we both enjoyed the show.

I've never seen it so busy.  Lots to see, but a big crowd to wade through.

Got a great deal there today.  One of the booths were selling danner jackel II 17 inch snake boots for $130 and they are originally $250.

That is a STEAL!!!  I've got 2 pair, one pair cost me $180 and I got the other for $150.  Love mine.
Sad to say, but I've lived in Eastern NC for 40 years and have never been to the Classic or the State Fair.  Just don't want to fight the crowds.

It was pretty crowded when we got there around lunch time, but when we got out from watching some of the state calling contests around 3 it had cleared out some. By the time we left at 5 it was not bad at all.

The Dead End boys did pretty well in several divisions.

I like that they have the state contests at the DDC, but I think it should be in a different building from all the booths.  Too much noise and people traffic. Also it was hot as all get out in that room when we got there.
