I already have a Jellyhead .660 I bought off another member. I impulse bought another off fleabay because i rarely see an old model for a remington and figured if I didn't like it I could offer it to another member.
So now I have a .660 and .665. Which would you start with? Going to use Longbeard #5 3 inch shells.
Flip a coin!!! :camohat:
I have a 23" 870 and it's been my experience that the lighter loads (around 1 3/4 oz) use the .660. Over 2 oz I use a .665 Indian Creek. I'm currently using Nitro H517 in 4-5-7 with 2 7/16 payload and my gun loves it. But it will knock the taste out of your mouth. Ha ha. Another choke that does excellent with that gun is the old remington ventilator if you can find one. That choke absolutely loves Winchester 5's and 6's.
The only true way to answer that question is to shoot both from your gun. I, like you, have both a JH .660 and a JH .665 for my 21" 870 and have shot them both through my gun using 3" #5 standard long beards. I actually prefer the pattern of the .665 over the .660. The 40yd pattern looked more evenly spread with the .665, and my 20 year pattern opened up a bit more from say a softball size pattern to a volleyball size. Might help kill one if I'm a little off on a short shot.
I had an 870 SM with a 26" barrel and it shot the Hevi loads better with the .660 JH and the Longbeards liked the .665 JH
With #5s I'm going to guess .665 but that's just a guess.
I have a .665 and shoot magblends. I like it.
My 26" 870 SM, loves the .660 with the LB 5's.
