Post by: cja on February 29, 2016, 10:41:42 AM
looking at remington 870 with 20in barrel or should i go with the 26in. This is in 12ga. just not sure how the 20 barrel will perform. any thoughts appreciated

26 might give better patterns and a bit more velocity.  Also a longer sight plane if you're using bead or open sights.  20 will be lighter and more maneuverable (but not really by much).  I use 24" barrels most of the time but I have never felt handicapped when using longer barrels.  I would say go with what feels good.

I would go with the 20" if you are just dedicating it as strictly a turkey gun.  Otherwise go with the 26" for an overall killing everything gun.

I'd do the same.

If it's gonna be a dedicated turkey gun I would definitely go with the 20".
I love mine. As far as performance I think the 20" does just fine. I put 240+ in 10" circle at 40yds shooting 3" longbeards #6s with a hevi-shot .662 choke.
