Smaller doesn't mean easier to play. In most cases the shorter the trumpet, the better one has to be able to control the air flow.
Totally agree with Mark Sharpe.
Buice , Cox and others make 5.5" trumpets. They play pretty fast and have good rollover - once you master them. Trumpets and wingbones are the most difficult calls to play well. It takes time and practice. Some folks have natural ability and most have to put in the "due diligence"...
Good luck ..
I can't speak from experience as I spent 2 weeks blowing on a wing bone without ever making a sound but I've heard that a tube call was the hardest.
Just so I don't get 500 messages, I know that trumpets have to be sucked on. Didn't when I bought the first wing bone as it came with no instructions. Finally got it figured out but that was years ago and I gave it away since then in favor of other things.
I think a Permar 1920 would fit the OP's question without being too small and increasing the difficultly of playing it.
Permar makes a 1917 and a 1920 that are slightly shorter and skinnier and they run like a dream.
