Title: Purdy in Purple!!!
Post by: culpeper on March 30, 2011, 10:29:34 PM
Here is a call headed to the mid-west, she is a curly purpleheart lid (man this stuff is cool) with curly maple inlays over a red cedar box with curly maple end blocks set on a matching purpleheart base.  The woodburning is really getting to be a lot of fun and this one sports a gobblers tail feather on the right sound rail and spring snowflakes on the left sound rail.  Despite the unusual grain this call surprised me and turned out with a crisp boss hen in the left and a clear smooth young hen in the right, both with distinct roll-over yelpy-yawks!  As a bonus and I think as a result of the grain, this call purrs like no other I have built.  Hope the hunter likes it and fools a couple wiley old toms!

Basser69,

Nah!!! I make them to hunt with...the time I spend on tuning to get them just right is the same I put in making them look good.  The woodburning is just something I like to do and I hope it gives the customer something special to remember everytime they pick it up to strike.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Well I certainly appreciate all the compliments--hopefully the hunters who ordered these calls feel the same way.
