Title: Florida Hunting
Post by: tnanh on February 26, 2016, 10:06:27 PM
Does anyone know anything about the turkey hunting around Jay Florida. I may have a chance to go and was wondering how the turkey population is etc. I live in Tennessee and have never Turkey hunted in another state.

Andy have no idea where Jay florida is not from that state but have hunted in florida three times headed back down next month again. My advise if no one else in that area chimes in is look on map for closest public hunting area and call Parks or who ever Runs it and ask them. People don't sometimes like brodcasting on open internet if they have turkeys in there back yard. When you get down there you will see why it is a crazy Zoo going on on public ground down there on open weekend hunting be care full.

Small small town. Grew up near there. Not sure about public land but a ton of farm land and hardwoods. Depending on the piece of property there are most certainly a bunch of turkeys there.

I have permission to hunt 200 private acres of timber that the guy bought for an investment. He doesn't hunt and hasn't been to it in a couple of years. My guess is someone has been hunting it if he doesn't keep an eye on it but I'm thinking about trying it. Just curious how the population is in North Florida. Tennessee's population is struggling the last few years in the places I have to hunt.

Not a good pic but the dark area is Osceolas and the lighter color  is easterners

Ya it's all easterns there but there is a healthy amount of birds in north fl. But we all know with land that varies. That's a long drive for 200 acres buddy but I hope you mash some if you make the trip! Good luck

I live 30 minutes east of Jay and there are birds over that way I personally have ever hunted in Jay, but know a few guys that do. Lots of farm Land, pine, and oak thickets. 200 acres should hold a few birds but they are hunted hard in this area of south Alabama and Northwest Florida.
