Title: Light weight/non bulky tom/jakes
Post by: jims on February 13, 2016, 08:55:03 PM
I plan on hunting merriams this year in Colo.  We have few turkeys and lots of country to hike (5 to 10 mile hikes are common).  I'm trying to figure out a jake/tom decoy that doesn't tend to take up a bunch of room and is lighter weight.  I can think of a couple options.  One would be a funky chicken.  The FC is one of the craziest decoys I've ever seen!  Has anyone had very good luck with them?  Another option I'm considering is a thunder chicken with a real fan.

Have you had good results using the purr-fect jake?  A jake that looks really good is the Avian.  It likely weighs more and isn't as compact and is around $100.

I've never used the jake, it's new this year. I've had good results with the hen though.
