This is the worst thing that has ever happened to the republic. The Country won't survive it. Call your senator and tell him if he doesn't stall the nomination through whatever means possible till the next president is in office that you will fire his .
This could mean trouble for us gun owners.
Once these people are appointed they are there for good.
Call your senator!!!
This is dangerous. I'm not a conspiracy theory person, but funny how this happens right when it looks like the GOP maybe about to take back over everything else.

The traitor-in-chief has to nominate a strict constructionist with a record if he wants another justice on the Court. Anything less than that will get "Borked". I loved Scalia and will miss his intellect greatly. Ginsberg doesn't have long and the Court can be improved if Obama is forced to nominate a strict constructionist and a true conservative is elected to replace Ginsberg. It is important to let your U.S. Senators know that your vote for them is dependent on their confirmation of nothing less than a strict constructionist. This Presidential election is most likely the most important election of your life; I know it is the most important election of mine.
True, don't know about all of you and you all have a right to you're opinion but I'm tired of career politicians that gave done nothing else in life but be a politician. That's what's been the problem, we've had too many career politicians in the presidential office since Reagan. He was the last that wasn't. When this country was at it's best it had people like FDR and Reagan leading it. Not saying these men were perfect but the country was strong and our rights were not threatened. If Clinton or Jeb bush is elected we're all screwed. I think by now you know where I'm headed but I like alot that Trump has to say and he is a smart enough business man to straighten this country out. In the end that's what a country is, one big business. Just my honest opinion. And the senators and congressmen should not be allowed to stay in office till the day they die. Needs to be a limit on how many terms one can serve also like the white house. That long of terms leads to a buddy system and corruption and we don't need anymore of that.

The house and senate will hopefully stall the appointment until 2016 , i don't know if it's possible but the fact remains that both the house and senate are in republican control , hopefully they can hold out
we have been at a loss for a truly decisive conservative president since Reagan
Obama announced he intends to nominate a replacement. No shock there. Let's pray the Senate refuses to cooperate.

He's not exaggerating at all. It is very bad. This is why it was so important, at the time to fight against the nominations of Sotomayor and Kagan. 2 liberal judges that were nowhere near qualified to sit those benches. Nobody fought.
Now Osama will nominate another with no opposition by establishment GOP members and you end up with a majority rule that starts re-writing the constitution, remember, they believe it is a living, breathing document meant to be changed at will, while legislating wildly from the bench instead of interpreting law.
He's not exaggerating a bit...

Sad day...........Justice Scalia was an honorable man, family man and a man with values that shined in his decisions as a Supreme Court Justice...and he will be missed...his replacement will come at a price...one that we will have to pay...no choice...Obama will put in that empty seat an empty headed person who he can control and who's choices will be governed by "you owe me" instead of Constitutional correctness. I agree with those who are wanting the seat filled after the election, but chances are we will see it filled soon, my advice is to pray.....

To say having a liberal majority Court is the worst thing to ever happen, and the country won't survive it IS an exaggeration. Deep breath people!
Oh, the country will survive, but as the United Socialist States of America. Hitler was a socialist, and we are but a whisper away from the conditions that led to National Socialism, i.e. Nazi.
If their is a holocaust in this country it would be the hunters and Christians instead of Jews. I was told when I was a kid by alot of old timers that there would be another civil war in this country and the older I get and the worse things get and liberty's are taken for the first time I could see that happening. Military needs to remember that it's not there to protect the government, it is there to protect the people, their rights and the constitution. Not the beliefs of a few politicians when that time comes.
Praying hard. Have been sick over general direction of the Union for some time now but this is a big ticket item for sure. Pray and remain in touch and active. I have been apathetic over our plight over the years but not anymore. However you believe, do something and keep praying.....not the least of which, for Scalia's family.
I can't believe that no one has even mentioned the fact that he was pronounced dead by a county judge that wasn't even present with the body. She just took the word of some law enforcement officers over the telephone And then he was embalmed before an autopsy could be performed because "supposedly" his family did not want an autopsy C'mon people. If this doesn't smell of impropriety I don't know what does! I don't trust our federal government any further than I can see them!!

Yes, I know that I was quite surprised that a 79 year old man beyond the national life expectancy, whom was overweight most of his life and had a sedentary job, and whom had a history of heart disease, had died. It all seems so sudden.

It did considering he was at the doctor a few days prior and was given a clean bill of health and just hours earlier he was seen at a party in perfect condition. And the guy that found him said a pillow was over his head......all seems so natural.

Spoken like a true liberal! And more recent news reports are saying that he was found with a pillow over his head.

Uhmmm,...Let's see here. The judge was suffocated by someone in some big conspiracy to get rid of him by "liberals",...but whoever did it was not smart enough to remove the pillow from over his head afterward. Yes,...that MUST be what happened! ::) :z-dizzy:

Dude, you are nuts. I am anything but a liberal.
And I've actually met Scalia, Thomas, and others when I was sworn in as a member of the Supreme Court of the United States. I know people in Texas with whom he hunts and has hunted.
What I am not is a truther, birther, tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorist.
I can think of two older men I've known that looked good the last time I saw them and were dead from heart attacks within 24 hours. Older, heavy men with a history of heart disease can go in a hurry. It often happens after airplane or car rides when they have been in a seat for a while.
Tim Russert, the late news guy from NBS, died a few years ago after air travel. He had recently had a physical and stress test and they detected nothing.

Cool! OG is coming up in the world,...we have a supreme court justice as a contributing member! :you_rock: :happy0064:
Guess who won't be attending Justice Scalia's funeral on Saturday............. Yep, Obama apparently is too busy to make it. Must not have been able to reschedule his tee time..
QuoteYou were sworn in as a member of the Supreme Court of the United States?
Yes, the SCOTUS Bar.
