Title: winchester high density in an a5 light 12
Post by: holtspur on February 12, 2016, 03:53:01 AM
Wondered if anyone might know if it's safe to shoot the old winchester high density loads through a Belgian light twelve. It would of course be through the full barrel is why I wonder. I know steel is supposedly a no no through the guns but I have even shot it through the improved and mod barrels. I picked up a couple boxes of it in 2 3/4 6 for 15$ a box and thought I might bring the old girl out for a nostalgic hunt.

I'm not sure what the high density loads are, but if the friction ring is setup for heavy loads it should be fine. I've shot many a heavy load in my savage 720, they just kick like the devil!

It was their old extended range shells. They were similar to heavy shot although I'm not sure exactly what the shot is just that it's supposed to be denser than lead
