I have been kicking around the idea of shooting 3" Longbeard #4's in my Mossberg 835. Any reccomendations on what choke to try? It has a 24" barrel. Thanks in advance
I would try something in the 680 -690 range a kicks or a jellyhead
The kicks GT in .680 has a good reputation in the 835 throwing lead.
I don't have any LB patterns. However.... From my experience,in my Ol Mossy. The regular HV Winchester #4 perform well with the 680 Kicks and the 690 Jh. This was a pattern in the 90's @40 I don't remember the other details.

The hevi 13 choke gave me the best and most consistent results with long beard 4's out of my 835. My best pattern I believe was around 165-170 hits in the ten at 40.
Nothing beats a Jebs .650 in my 835 with Longbeard 4s 3.5"..... Trust me I wouldnt of ever believed it either. I would of bet the farm the .650 would be too tight.

crazy
With that shell I have gotten my best patterns with the factory .690 extended turkey choke. A nice even 40 yd pattern with no holes or gaps. I started working my way up from a Kicks .680, it was way too tight for my taste.
