was thinking of getting one of these for my oldest boy. Anybody got any experience with them, good or bad? Price seemed to be pretty good on the one I was looking at, right at $200. Wondering if it would be worth getting one. Would be a turkey gun 99% of the time with the occasional rabbit hunt thrown in ever once in a while. Thanks!

The Remington 870 was the inspiration for this gun. The bores on the ones that I've looked at were good. The only complaint I've heard is that they are relatively heavy. It uses Win-Chokes so you have a wide selection of turkey chokes from which to choose. Other aftermarket products would not be as available for this gun as for Remington or Mossberg, so that may be something to keep in mind.
My recommendation would be that you compare this one with a Remington 879 and a Mossberg 500 for overall fit, finish and just general feel and let that be your guide.

I've only handled a few of them, and to be honest I can't get over the fact that it has "Made in China" on the barrel. Now don't get me wrong they may be a good gun, but for a little bit more money I would buy a mossberg, and they are made in Eagle pass, Tx. I believe that a Remington or mossberg would serve him well for many, many years to come.
I have always used my NEF Pardner 12 gauge and it's a good gun, although it is heavy. Might want to pick one up and hold it before buying for a kid. I still don't have a sling on mine, I don't know what makes me continue to carry it around by hand. I've carried it many miles through the woods and fields. It's the same design as the 870 but weighs more.

I have a friend that has one and he loves it. I don't know if he just got lucky but for the price, it has some pretty nice looking walnut on it. He's running an inexpensive aftermarket choke in it, can't remember which one, and it patterns very well. He's had it for several years and has had zero problems with it. From what I've seen of my buddy's gun, I wouldn't be afraid to buy one.

the only bad thing about them, is they are somewhat heavy, other than that, they are good all round shotguns
I bought one last year along with an M2 to compare 20 ga patterns on both ends of the price spectrum. Ultimately, with HW7 and Sumtoys, the pump patterned a little better. I had to polish the barrel (per OG instructions) to get about a 15% increase in the 10 ring (166 @ 40 in 45 degree weather). POI was off, so I put pro mag gobble dots on it. Also, I had to drill the mag tube cap to receive a sling stud. It is a little heavy, but no big deal.
