Title: Head colors once more?
Post by: Remington924 on March 29, 2011, 05:57:49 PM
Lovett i have to ask because some years ago i asked the question another member asked and you had a different reply so did new information come out because the member asked for what the head colors mean and in the past you replied red= dominant/ aggressive behavior and white/blue meant passive or williningness to breed, however you recently told a member that a red head on a gobbler meant he was frightened and white was an aggressive color.
i ask because i have always know white to be a breeding color watching a tom run in with a fire engine red head smash over a jake decoy then watch his hed turn to white and mount and breed a hen decoy, ive also read in F&S and outdoor life before that red was agressive and white was passive/ breeding

Remington924,

I have never said red means dominant.  Pale red means he is frightened.

I don't what the various shades of red mean.
