I am trying to remember the name of a callmaker that won the trumpet division at Nationals a few years ago. His first name was Jesse. Thanks...
Was it Jesse Newsome
That was my friend Jessie Newsom. I was in Nashville to make the phone call to him when I found out he had won. Sadly he's not building anything at this time. His home was washed away a few years ago by a flood and I'm not sure he ever got back on his feet again. The last I talked to him was at least 6 months ago.
Thanks guys.
Rickey I just read on another site that he passed away 2 weeks ago. Here what a friend said
My name is Brad McLerran, and I'm not a call maker. My friend, Jessie Newsom, use to visit this forum as "3inchstrutbuster". He made trumpet calls, and won the Turpin Award from NWTF a few years back. Then he had to move and he never got his shop going again. I have joined this board to let you know that Jessie passed away about 2 weeks ago. He was 60. He had been in bad health recently, but this was a surprise. I just wanted to let his fellow call makers know what happened to him. I know he really enjoyed working on calls and talking with many of you on this forum. On behalf of Jessie, I want to relay my thanks for your friendship to him and sharing stories and pointers on making these great calls. He is missed here. God Bless.---Brad
God I hate to hear this. Jessie and I used to talk all the time about calls and call making. He was a big help to me and I'll miss him. RIP my friend.
Another good fella gone....
Rest in peace, Jesse
God Speed Jesse.
