Title: A couple of knives from the Unicoi show
Post by: M Sharpe on January 23, 2016, 08:30:15 PM
I picked up a couple of custom knives from Wayne Hendrix at the Unicoi show. The one with the laminate handle is for my pa, for Christmas. Maybe I can hold out that long!!

Beautiful! I've always had a weakness for a good knife. Obviously you do too. ;D

Those are some great looking knives Mark, made by a talented custom knife maker.

I keep coming back to look at your knives, they're beauties. If you don't mind my asking, what type of steel are they made from? Thanks.

Not sure on that Bob, I did hear his wife say that he calls it razorblade steel. And that is what they are as sharp as too!!

I like those! Collecting knives is my addiction, I must have near 35 knives and 15 machetes by now :)

Mark,

Wayne told me much the same... didn't say exactly what steel he is using now.

I have 8 of his knives from the late 90s on , and he used ATS-34 on most of them.. Know this, Wayne Hendrix makes a great knife.  Superior craftsmanship and materials. Knives that hold a razor's edge and will be easy to sharpen and maintain. His designs are purely functional and eye pleasing too.

Thank you both, they look and sound like awesome knives. I see one of them in my future.
