Curious if anyone has the iON CamoCam and if so I'm interested in reviews. I'd like to start capturing some hunts on video. Looks like it just mounts to the bottom of your barrel.
I have found none of these mini cams (Ion, Go Pro, Countour) really do a good job of filming hunts. Those fisheye lenses make the turkey's look so small, and the mics are basically useless. They are great to use for another view of the same hunt with a real camcorder, good mic, and fluid head tripod.

So first off it really depends on what you want your final results to be. With that said most of these "Action Cams" were originally designed for a different use and were not designed for what we as hunters use them for, they do have their place and a lot of great footage with some unique angles and shots can be taken. For us they are used to catch "B" roll footage, To truly capture your hunt maybe more than what you are considering. There are many solo hunters that shoot their own hunts and do a great job of, then there is having an additional camera person(s) and I have done these in both respects. I have used cameras from basic $200 palm sized camcorders to video cameras that run in the thousands of $$$, and there is big differences in these and their quality of image (consumer / pro-sumer / professional) and recording method.
I have not used the camera in question, but have used the GoPro's and Tactacam with some good results, our main footage though is taken with a traditional (pro-sumer class) video camera, and here is where it comes back to the question of what you are looking at for your final results. This can be an addicting aspect of your hunts, at this stage of the game capturing and sharing your time in the field with friends, family and others may be what you are after other than shooting for an "Outdoor Show". There are some very good setups including video camera, mics, tripod/treearms and a few other accessories that at a small investment can meet most needs. If that kind of investment is out of the scope of what you are looking for there may be some others on this site that can help with their experiences and recommendations.

Action cams aren't very good for filming the game unless the cam is really close to the animal. An action cam is better for second angle views of the hunter, or other random shots that make the video look cooler. For example I will put one on my kayak sometimes...but haven't killed anything yet on those trips to make the video worthwhile. When using a climbing stand I will sometimes put an action can on the stand while I climb. Then I can speed up the video for a cool effect.
For turkeys I always want a tripod and good video camera sitting by my side within arms reach. It's tough to self film turkeys but the footage is worth it when it does come together.
