Title: Call cadence.
Post by: deerbasshunter3 on January 10, 2016, 04:39:16 PM
Is there any certain "standard" cadence that seems to work best? I am getting better with my diaphragm calls, but not sure if there is any cadence I should work on. Thanks.

Sounds slow to me. Also sounds like too much tongue pressure, but you are on the right track

I agree w the too much pressure thing. Some calls are easier to blow than others. Two ways to look at it, get an easy to blow call n work up or learn the hard call n the rest is easy.
Get the Dvds from Lovett n try n mimic what you're hearing cadence wise. Scott Ellis has a great cd that shows mouth calling well too

Best way to learn cadence is by listening to real turkeys.

Pay attention in the woods and look some videos up of wild turkeys calling.
Goodluck.

That's the first one that popped up when I just did a search. Keep practicing and understand that calling is one of the most over emphasized aspects of the game, but it is one we can work on and constantly try to improve on. Plus it's a great excuse to buy more calls.
