Title: Gobbler lounger mods
Post by: chatterbox on March 29, 2011, 05:35:21 AM
Hey guys, I just bought a lounge sack for my gobbler lounger, and was wondering what do you guys do for mods on your lounger?
I know most remove the sling, but what about the velcro strap? Do you leave it? Cut it off?
Just looking for ideas and what works for you guys.

What I did was remove the sling that it came with and replaced it with neoprene shotgun sling.
Works much better with neoprene sling. As for the Velcro strap...I use it to keep chair closed
and it's not a big deal.

I'm thinking the best thing for you is to cut the velcro off and stick it on your mouth so you can't talk.  The sling will fit nicely around your neck, then jump off a cliff :goofball: :goofball: :TooFunny: :TooFunny: :TooFunny:  :TooFunny: :TooFunny: :TooFunny:

I spray painted the black rods and the black back in a tan/brown color.  I got the custom gunsocks bag which may make the difference in my actually using the chair this year.

After I got the sack for my lounger I cut the carry strap off the lounger. Several times the strap got caught up in the legs. I also cut the velco strap off. Works great for me. Good luck this spring !

I have had no problems from the sling on the lounger and don't understand all the hate for it.  The velcro strap has me a little concerned.   If it is a problem with noise, I'll cut it off and put a bungy around it.  If you have the sack, then I'd just not use the velcro strap and take off the sling.  The sack makes it so you don't have to use them, quicker to open and put away and move.

My complaint about the sling is I could barely fit it over my shoulder.  I'd love to be able to carry it diagonal with the strap across my chest but there is no way I'm going to fit and I'm what I would consider an average build.

I left the Velcro strap on mine and replaced the carrying strap with a shotgun sling. I also put camo tape around the legs to cover the shiny metal parts. I let some tape hang off for a leafy illusion. I think I will quit carrying it most of the time though because of my hunting style. I don't sit still for very long most of the time and I get tired of picking it up and moving, especially when repositioning several times on a stubborn gobbler. And it is something extra I have to tote !  :gobble:

Thanks for all the SERIOUS replys guys.
I ended up removing the screw that holds the velcro strap, then replacing the screw. I cut off the strap at the bottom, so that's gone.
I don't listen much to a guy who buys shoes with the toes showing so he won't have to kick them off so he can count to 20.  :bike2:

I found that the strap was too tight and also it broke off. I replaced it with a padded camo strap from a camo duffle bag. It can be adjusted if I want too loosen it or snug it up. I took the velcro strap off and tied a small black bunge around a leg in the middle and just put the to hooks together around the chair when I fold it up to carry. Quck to deploy and close up. I can also put it in the back of my vest if I want to keep it off my shoulder. Last year I moved 4 times on the same gobbler one mourning and it was quick and easy.

I spray painted the legs and the back of the chair to break up it's solid color. Also put camo tape on the bars that the seat back rubs against when you shift posistions to stop the little noise from the fabric. As most do, I changed out the carry strap too.
