what is your go-to turkey cleaning knife?
I like to debone my turkey in the field and I'm looking for a special purpose knife. I've been researching this subject for a few days and have across the Buck Paklite 'boning' knife. My little amount of experience tells me it might be a good knife for the job, but maybe some old timers have some better ideas!?

Very sharp and not expensive. Does well on caping deer too.
I USUALLY CARRY MY TOOTHPICK THAT I KEEP RAZER SHARP .........
A good 8 inch Fillet Knife has served me well for the few turkeys I've bagged.
Keep it sharp.
Puma Skinner #116393. turkey, deer, blue whale. it'll skin'em all.
I use a Rapala filet knife, keep a good edge on it and it's great for removing the breast meat.

This one is hard to beat for price and simplicity, I have one that I couldn't count the deer hogs and turkeys I've deboned with it. And a few fish too ;) unless you are looking for the cool factor then look no further.
Whatever pocket knife is on me. Doesn't take much to do a turk. The knives you have posted are a little big for me. I like an old buck trapper style and that's often all I use
Case folding hunter. It can do it all from deer to turkeys. Usually carry a fixed blade for deer though.
Knives of Alaska
Usually any pocket knife I have on me will do, but I really like my Havalon Piranta when I remember to pack it.

Whatever pocket knife i have at the time and fillet knife .
Case muskrat
Havalon Piranta works well for me.
In the past, I've always used a fillet knife. I bought a Wiebe this fall to use for trapline. I will try it this next spring. Should work well. It looks alot like the Havalon and might even use the same blades.
I've got a very good set of knives I use for deer processing, I just use the fillet knife from that set.

Case leather hunter, 6.5" clip blade. I carry it for everything I hunt, perfect size.
I love custom knives. Just more than pride of ownership - better materials and edge holding capability.
We call these" Turkey hunter light sabers" .. Scott Davidson of Alto, GA makes them.. Wonderful knives.
Scott's knives will last the rest of your life. They are a great value ..
I use a case mini trapper for the small stuff, and the Buck 110 for the big stuff. Back at home I use the rapala fillet knife for the fine work. I love all three, and two of them I carry everyday!
Any sharp knife will do--I try not to overthink it.
I've been using a Case trapper for over 30 years, suits me just fine.
i got a new knife for christmas that i think will work well and it is sharp. its a mossy oak tonto blade. my go to is an old winchester gut hook knife

Small 6 inch filet knife...works great...get you a work sharp knife sharper and never look back...
I most often use a Hendrix bird and trout knife but have cleaned a plenty with a small folding Gerber pocket knife. Doesn't take much blade to clean/cut up or fillet out a turkey in my experience.

This. These bad boys are sharp!
Here's the handiest little knife I've found http://allaboutshooting.com/article_info.php?articles_id=775
It's good for just about anything and it's a sharp as a straight razor.
Thanks,
Clark

It's hard to beat my faithful, sharp as a razor, Case Trapper!
Knowing where all the joints are makes things alot easier.
I use my little Case for cleaning anything from Squirrels to Deer........
:fud:
Whatever I got with me, often a Buck 110

A sharp knife. I have a knife or two that PF gave me as part of my membership package. Either of those works fine.
Same knife I use to de-bone a deer, a 6" Victorinox boning knife. If I'm in the field and a good ways from home and need to dress a bird I use a Havalon Piranta...

I use a Case SodbusterJr. that's scary sharp and doesn't weight anything.
I usually carry an old Schrade liner lock that I bought back in the 80's. It's cleaned a lot of game and fish over the years.
Bob
I made the switch to an Outdoor Edge RazorLite EDC. Nice knife.
My all-around favorite is the Kershaw Blade Trader. I keep one in my Turkey vest, my Deer hunting pack, and my Fishing kit at all times. Great, versatile knife!

x2! That Havalon does a great job.
Rada filet/boning
a very old, very sharp Marks Edge german fixed blade that my dad gave me many moons ago.it just stays sharp and is the perfect size.
Case Trapper in the field. Bubba Blade filet knife at home.
I use a Buck-Lite #422 that I've carried in my vest or hunting pack since 1985. It has been a good one.
Jim
Havalon Piranta is the best knife I have ever carried into the turkey woods. I have an extra in the truck along with replacement blades throughout the season as it is the lightest and sharpest I have found.
1960's model Case trapper good steel holds an edge well and has two blades.
Nothing special. I keep an Old Timer of some sort in my vest.
Buck 102
