Title: Replacing seat cushion on turkey vest
Post by: GomerPyle on December 14, 2015, 12:30:55 PM
I have a Mossy Oak Super Elite vest.....I LOVE the vest but don't care for the seat cushion.  It's just too thin.  I've noticed it's removable with a zipper - is there anywhere to buy a new, thicker replacement cushion?

Depends on how cushy or heavy you want to go, but there are lots of possibilities.  Any fabric store will have foam you could cut to suit.

I recently replaced the cushion on my treestand with a memory gel cushion from Bed Bath and Beyond and it is magic, but might be a little heavy for a turkey seat.

I have a tactical tator vest and the seat hasn't needed replacing so I'm speaking from word of mouth from a buddy not experience. But he has a inner tube type seat (tube of a small tire) and had a lady sew fabric around it and put the straps in place to fit his vest. He swears by it.

I have the same vest and took off the seat cushion and went to a turkey chair instead. No matter what seat cushion I try, my tailbone gets sore after a few days of sitting. The chair works wonders for this problem!!!

I did this and I am happy that I did. it  is very comfortable and beats the vest seat by far.

I sometimes use a camo Stearns throw cushion PFD for hunting in hot weather in later spring.  I just put  a nylon strap with side release buckle through the handles to carry it.

The material in that cushion holds up pretty well.  If you can get a cheap throw cushion PFD, you might cut it open and use all or some of the material in it to stuff your seat.

I have an old Cabelas vest that has a wheel barrow sized inner tube for a seat...Ya' gotta' shoot me off of it to get it from me!!!
