I shot this buck on the second day of our MI gun season. He ran a small group of does and fawns by me and he came into sight seconds later. I shot him with my muzzleloader as he came out of the cover and up onto the ditch bank. Couldn't see what happened thru the smoke but he must have launched himself forward down into the ditch where he thrashed around until all was quiet. Couldn't see him from my tree stand as the ditch has nearly 8' banks. When I got down I found him on his back in the water and mud. A picture after I dragged him partially out of the water and after we cleaned him up. He weighed 230 lbs on my buddies scale before field dressing. A very quick scoring had him right at 125.
Very nice! Congrats

He was heavy, and we couldn't get him up the steep mud banks. Thank god there was a Quad trail next to the ditch bank so I could get above him with my Jeep. Hooked a tow rope on him and slowly dragged him out. There was no way I was going to gut him down there.
Very nice Mike!
Our season starts Monday and I can only hope I'm so lucky.
Enjoy!
