Last weekend was opening weekend of Iowa's early muzzleloader season and I got to take my wife out hunting for her first time ever. After about 2 hours in the stand, this nice doe came in and she handled it like a veteran. Even after she squeezed the trigger and only hear a "click". That's when we realized that I had forgotten to put a primer in. I was able to reach our backpack, grab a primer and get it to her just in time for her to be able to get a perfect shot off as the doe was just getting ready to split. She said she's never felt her hear pump that hard before. I think she is hooked on hunting and the outdoors now. I'm so proud of her and so glad she had such a great experience for her first time. She asked me last spring if she could try hunting this fall so we've been preparing for this season since.
great job on her deer
she did good keeping her cool on the misfire and then making a good shot for her first deer.
Congratulations on gaining a new hunting partner! My wife volunteered to help drag out my early bow kill a couple weeks ago. She now has a much better idea of what it takes to get an animal from the woods to the table.
That is great. I love the heavy heart pumping. When that stops happening its time for me to stop hunting.
Also an Iowan resident here. What county were you hunting?
My wife was not crazy about hunting when we were first married. Now she loves to bow hunt and has taken some very respectable deer.

Congrats to both of you!!

Thanks guys. Yeah she has come a long ways, she too wasn't too fond of hunting when we first started dating and now she understands why I love it, and loves it herself. We were hunting in Davis county, although we live further north.
Awesome
Congrats to both of you....
A memory shared for a lifetime.... :icon_thumright:
