A hunting buddy came up with a Mossberg 88 for his son and I am curious about a choke and lead load to recommend to him. Thanks in advance! :camohat:
The threaded choke models use the Accu-Choke, the same as Win-Choke and Invector, so there are many choices. Those barrels can be very dirty, even brand new, and I'd recommend that he "deep clean" it http://allaboutshooting.com/article_info.php?articles_id=282 prior to anything else.
Is it a 12 gauge or a 20 gauge and what length is the barrel? That information might help me make a better recommendation.
Thanks,
Clark
Oops! 12 ga...sorry. Plan on cleaning his barrel for him. 26".

It would be hard to beat the 3" WLB shells with either 1 3/4 or 1 7/8 oz. of #6 shot and I'd combine that with the SSX turkey choke. With a clean 26" barrel it should be a real turkey killer.
Thanks,
Clark
As always, thank you sir! How much are the SSX's?
