I just purchased a 20ga 870 compact jr. for my 9 yr old son and was just wondering if you guys had any recommendations for a choke....it has the 19" barrel and I'm planning on shooting the 2 3/4" federal heavyweight 7's.....most likely trying to make it a 30 yard gun.....anyone shooting this gun and what's numbers are you getting from it? Thanks.
Truglo SSX .550 with the 2-3/4 Fed load is a killer out to 35 yards. It's the combo that my daughter killed the turkey in my avatar.

I happen to have an ssx you can try if you want
the 3 that I use and recommend .570 primos tightwad .550 truglo SSX .575 Carlson
The .575 Carlson has a following.
I'm gonna go different here. A 9 year old will have enough excitement n probs pulling off a shot. You said the gun is only a 30 yarder. Modified choke w small shot will give a dense but forgive able pattern
My son started when he was 7 with a 11-87 youth and I've tried a jellyhead, Sumtoy, and SSX. We use the SSX with hevi 7's. It was a little more consitant for me than the other. He has smoked them from 15 yards to 40ish with it.
Thanks for the feedback guys....keep it coming....i hope to drill and tap the gun and put a red dot on there as well....i don't know if he's more excited or I am.
