Title: My First Box Call Complete
Post by: Ol Timer on July 10, 2015, 08:03:17 AM
Well since I retired as a Carpenter I took the advice of my Chapter President to start building Turkey Calls. Well I picked up some 8/4 wood in Purpleheart and some Red Cedar and went to work at it. Yesterday I finished it up and its sounds awesome, here are a few pics of the results.

Very nice. If my first one turns out half as nice I will be happy.

Thanks  for the compliments guys lets just start by saying after buildings this box I have a whole new respect for anyone building turkey calls. Let's just say it requires a learning curve to get every detail right, starting with the correct degree of angles to the sound panels to thick or to thin total different sounds then the arch to high or to low the same results totally different sound again, I believe if I have not hunted And listen to the sound of birds for over 30 years I could not of got this far with the way it turned out, believe me I still have a long way to go to get it even more perfected .I know no two calls will sound the same, I will hope for the best is all I can say. I'm going to like building them for friends as gifts and maybe donate a few to my turkey chapter to award some young jakes in our calling contest we hold for them . So thanks again for the kind words.
