Catching up on some orders the last 2 weeks and turned this bocote trumpet for a fella. I think bocote has turned out to be one of my most favorite woods for trumpets...

Beauty of a trumpet... very nicely done.
Nice....that is some very nice bocote. Since I've never turned any, I have to ask. Why is it one of your favorites...? ease to turn...sound...appearance..?
KP, I like the way it turns and finishes for sure.. The bocote has a tad bit toned down from a harder type wood. Don't get me wrong I like harder type material as well. The sound of a trumpet carries further than most calls..IMO
Thanks Lyle...I was just curious. I have some favorites too, some are just a pleasure to turn while some are harder than wood pecker lips.... ;D Some finish well while others take a lot more time.
That's a beauty!!
Great looking horn!
Nice one!
Looks great!
Lyle, thats a beauty.
KP, Lyle likes that bocote because it smells like pickles when he turns it.

I knew there was a reason... ;D I'm kinda partial to the smell of osage myself.

What.....We need to talk...I do need some.... ;D
Let me know if when ya ready we have some planks cut! There's a difference from the northern osage and southern osage! Simply grows slower more growth rings per inch..Never a bland color as well.
