Title: WI double
Post by: emptymag on May 23, 2015, 12:55:52 PM
Its only my second season turkey hunting. After not having any luck in MN a friend and I went to WI. After a few days of scouting we saw a lot of birds but only 2 toms that we couldn't get on. We had 4 jakes and a hen located in one field that we could get on. After watching them one morning and one night we saw a pattern. They always walked the same field edge going too and from the roost. So last night we just sat on the field edge, no decoys or calling and at about 7:30 here they came. Doubled down at 16 yards and made it back home for the rest of the long weekend. Happy wife, happy life! I'm more of bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush kinda guy anyway. Now we are thinking of a trip to SD next sping. One thing I know I'll never hunt this late in the year again. Too hot, buggy and brushy for me. I don't know how you guys down south do it.
