Has anybody been out in southern WV in the last few days? I have not been able to get in for the last couple weeks and am wondering if they're still gobbling any. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to take off later this week and hunt the last couple days of the season. Thanks for any help.
We only heard one gobbler yesterday morning on a summers county farm. But he pitched down and ran to my slate call. A few yelps to let him know we were there, and purred, and soft clucked to bring him the rest of the way. Honestly, I probably wouldn't have had to call a second time. they were gobbling good in northern wv atleast in the area i hunt. if you find one that will gobble theres a good chance he will be riding in the back on the way home this time of year. i should of had a longbeard this morning but i made a stupid mistake so stupid i dont want to even talk about it. tommorow will be a good day for gobbling i just got that feeling and its usually right
South west area here. Not as many birds gobbling overall but still a few firing up and getting hot. Still seeing gobblers strutting with hens. So its not done yet. Go early and be ready. Seems like best gobbling is daylite till bout 8.
They locked up in Boone after the first 3 days, I haven't heard a gobble in two weeks.
Thanks for the info guys! It looks like this front is going to move through and be nice in the morning. I think I'll take off tomorrow and head to McDowell for the last couple days. Thanks again for the info.
