Title: super black eagle11
Post by: greentag on May 13, 2015, 03:13:15 PM
ive wanted a super black eagle for years, long story short I was looking around at guns yesterday and there was a 24 inch steady grip black eagle 2 brand new,(the one ive always wanted but didnt think i could afford).when I asked what they wanted for it,i just couldn't pass it up, I haven't got to shoot it yet but if it shoots as good as my ole nova ive had for years it will be awesome, anyway I was wandering, for all you all that have them with the steadygrip what kind of slings are you using, that back part seems like its going to be different about putting a sling on it,and as far as turkey chokes go,i don't think these use the mobile type my nova uses,am I correct?any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks.

Your SBEII uses the crio choke system, which is different than the mobil choke system your nova used. I drilled my stock, and added a regular sling stud to it. Then you can use any sling you want.

Congratulations! You have an excellent shotgun that should last you a lifetime and give you great service. Even though it's a new gun and has a chrome-lined bore, I'd encourage you to "deep clean" it prior to taking it to the range. There can be gunk in the bore that really does not show up due to the chrome.

There are all kinds of chokes that are available for your gun and it will shoot a variety of shells exceptionally well, just like your Nova did. It has the same barrel i.d. as your Nova as well, so what worked in it should work in your SBE II.

Again, glad to hear you were able to get that gun and wish you all the best with it.

Thanks,
Clark

Congrats man...Great gun!
I've been shooting one for quite some time.Mine shot Hevi-13 VERY well with a .655 Kicks choke (they've since gone to recommending against Hevi through that choke).
It shot the old 3 1/2" Rem. Hevi 6's very well through a Primos jellyhead .660.
Now I shoot a Haymaker .670 (Indian Creek) with 2 oz. Mag blend and 1 3/4 oz. Longbeard #5's, both 3". Patterns very well with both...

Thats the same combo I run. As mentioned its pretty easy to install a five dollar stud in the butt stock. I run the Trulock .650 with 3.5" Fed Heavyweights. It hits low 190s in the ten usually but if that yote ever steps to seventy it will roll him.
