Title: toxicity in camphor wood
Post by: tap.emtp on May 11, 2015, 09:24:24 AM
Anyone had in respiratory problems after turning camphor? Turned for the first time last Fri. Woke up Sunday morning with chest pain and a terrible head ache. By the way I think the chest pain is respiratory. Going to the Dr today.

Camphor has been reported to cause skin and respiratory irritation, as well as a number of other effects, such as headaches, giddiness, and asthma-like symptoms. See the articles Wood Allergies and Toxicity and Wood Dust Safety for more information.

Thanks Audrey,I did read that. As soon as I realized it wasn't cardiac related I put 2 and 2 together. Dr said systoms similar to an asthmatic. Really can't take in a full lung full of air. Gave me a breathing treatment and a steroid shot. Seemed to help some. Also a script of antibiotics. Where you respirators even when turning wet wood!
