Post by: doepee on March 26, 2011, 08:21:24 PM
I got a friend whos wifes parents live in Nebraska, they have been trying to find us a private place to hunt. {probably for next year} Is there any public hunting land in Nebraska? If anyone lives there what are the non resident regulations ?    Thanks

Everything you are asking is listed on the Nebraska Games and Parks web site.  http://outdoornebraska.ne.gov/
I've never hunted public land, but I seem to remember this last NWTF magazine listed a few in Nebraska.

I checked that site out... looks like there might be quite a bit for the public... kinda would like to hear a heads up on some good places....could not find some info for non residents..do you have to buy tags early and if not can you buy over counter ..
I was actually going to try to call out there.. :icon_thumright:

Several parcels of public land in NE, SWA's and NF.  The word has been out for a few years though, and they see more pressure all the time.  Their web site is actually one of the easier ones to follow, so not sure why your not seeing the NR info.  Hopefully they haven't changed the format.  Tags can be bought over the counter or online.  You can buy up to 3 tags, either all at once or one at a time.  I believe last year was $95 each and you have to buy a habitat stamp (or something similar) for $25, but only one of those.  Very general rule is Merriams in the NW corner and hybrids of some sort in the rest of the state.  I would guess Merriam/Rio from west to central fading into Rio/Eastern towards the far east, but who the heck knows..........just shoot the strutter and don't worry about it.
