Last year, I decided to try to make my own turkey call for the first time, and after studying up on how to make these aggravating (yet rewarding) things, I ended up cranking out a batch of nine double-sided box calls that came out surprisingly well. I'm not sure why, but I decided I'd try it a second time this year and started working on five more. Here's a few pictures of the one I just finished. (Walnut over poplar):
