QuoteHARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Tim McGraw is defending his decision to headline a Connecticut concert to benefit a Sandy Hook group, responding to critics who call it a gun-control fundraiser.
For anyone who thinks that this group isn't a gun-control group, just look at their web page:

QuoteA gun in the home is 22 times more likely to be used in a homicide, suicide, or unintentional shooting than it is to be used in self-defense[iii]

I just found out today Garth Brooks stands behind Obama. Pretty boy Tim has probably never shot a gun in his life. Nugent may be ignorant but atleast he speaks his mind and supports the NRA.
You can bet they have security working for them that are packing. Heaven forbid a working man that lives from one pay check to next try and protect his self. The wealthy always wants to control the working man.
McGraw is a liberal. He refers to himself as a "blue dog democrat" and he supports Obama. I have no use for him.

A country singer supporting gun control? It may be a stereotype, but that doesn't sound like the norm to me?! ???
He's not a country singer. There's a lot of good country singers out there, but you won't hardly hear them on fm radio.
I don't listen to twang pop anyhow, so it's hard to get upset about another fruit loop entertainer acting out.
And Carrie Underwood is a anti hunter as well.....
Tim needs to worry about his hair, or lack there of.... not our guns.
embrace your baldness.
Amazing how money makes better hypocrites...
Only he ever did was marry that sweet young faith

Sad thing is Carrie grew up on a farm. Country isn't country anymore. It's more pop. Seems like 99% of celebs are freaking nuts
So is Shania Twain
Tim, we hardly knew ye.

You've hit the nail on the head!!
I've never cared for him, maybe because he always wears a hat! Now I really don't care for him.
Hey McGraw...Can You Say "Dixie Chicks" :help: ;D
McGraw said in a statement on Thursday there is no contradiction between gun ownership and supporting Sandy Hook Promise.
"Let me be clear regarding the concert for Sandy Hook given much of the erroneous reporting thus far. As a gun owner, I support gun ownership," he said. "I also believe that with gun ownership comes the responsibility of education and safety — most certainly when it relates to what we value most, our children. I can't imagine anyone who disagrees with that.
"The concert is meant to do something good for a community that is recovering," McGraw said.
McGraw got involved in the concert because the fiddle player in his band is a friend of one of the parents who lost a child in the Newtown shootings.
I liked a lot of his music but always felt like there was something "off" about ol Tim... guess I know why now ???

They need your money to recover 3 years after the fact? Ok.
Yes, gun ownership carries the inherent responsibility to educate our children on the proper operation and safety. That should be left to the parents, not a group of anti-gun hippies who don't know the difference between a bolt and a barrel.
Sorry, Timmy, but you're way off the mark here. There are other ways to 'support the community' than doing a fundraiser for an anti-gun group.

The group's website speaks for itself. They actually have a page keeping tabs on how lawmakers vote on gun control:

McGraw is just in damage control.
To hell with Tim McGraw--I didnt like him to begin with--even less now.
There is a difference between supporting gun control and being anti gun
But but but....................He's an Indian Outlaw!
Don't like him and all but one or two of his songs stink. He's always been a bleeding heart. A real blue dog Democrat would not support O-bomba.
