Our season is opening tomorrow. The only problem is that it has been raining for the last few days. Everything is flooded and wet and it's supposed to continue until Sunday. I might even be hunting in the snow on Sunday. I've never done that before. Good luck to those who will be out there and all you other guys that are starting or have already begun. Tomorrow is head smashing day. Good luck,

Good luck brother, hope you get a biggun! :fud:
Good luck Joe! This weather is crazy. I'd planned a private land hunt tomorrow and then maybe accompany my brother in law while he hunts some DFG or BLM land Sunday. Given the forecast for heavy rain and thundershowers tomorrow, I've pushed my private land hunt to Sunday when the weather is supposed to clear. Fingers are crossed and Muck Boots ready. I'm anxious to get started. Tomorrow will be torture.
Its gonna sun scattered clound and sunshie for us in So Cal and hopefully I can get this bird down tomorrow that Ive seen a few time.
good luck Joe, and to my fellow red Dawn Raider team member
Good Luck tomorrow! Looking forward to photos of a wet turkey.

Any Northern California hunters who are out today are better men than me. I tried to sleep in so I would not think about missing opening day. I woke up at 6:00am to the sound of rain on the roof.
It has been raining heavy or light non-stop all morning. Watching CMT Greatest Women of Country while catching up on my email. The wife has left for her yoga class so I might have to break out a turkey calling video next.
I just hope it clears tomorrow morning per the current forecast. Good luck to anyone who is braving the NorCal rain today and to Juan in SoCal.
Good luck joe belated.. Track em down in the snow.
Good luck, Joe. Hope the weather cooperated for you, today. Send us some pictures of the carnage..Mike :you_rock:
Was up at 3:45 and headed 1 1/2 hour drive to be at a meeting point at 5:30. Hard rain the whole way. We met up with Doug and got things ready. Then headed out before first light. We heard 1 turkey gobble and got as close as we could to set up. The turkey was roosted across a big road and he gobbled maybe 5 times. He hit the ground and we never heard him again. We walked a called for about 2 hours and decided it was time to go inside and get dry. We went and had breakfast and then Joey and I headed home. So all we got today was wet and pneumonia. Somebody's not reading the script. This is Sunny CA in March. it's supposed to be 72 degrees and sunny. Hope it clears up tomorrow. I'm headed for the mountains and maybe some snow.

Joe, hope you have a great hunt. Post some of those great pictures you are famous for! Neill
Joe good on you for trying today. Tomorrow will be better. It stopped raining in the Bay Area two hours ago and forecast is for it to not start again until mid-afternoon tomorrow. Hopefully this will give us all a window tomorrow morning.
A little snow hunting could be fun but a little goes a long way. Three years ago I went pheasant hunting in Central WA. The club owner told us there was 6-12". Turned out to be 2-3' which made for a long day of walking.
Just got an email from my snow removal company in Truckee that Squaw Valley has reported they have had more snow this year than in any other year since they opened (50-60 years old?). And there is one month left in the season.
Well this moring was REAlly cold! BUt stilll had some fun. We were running a bit late but go there about 10 to 15 mins before day light. As we waded through waist high poison Oak for about 150 to 200 yards. I Saw the lil opening in a river bottom Ive been scouting. As we climb the lil hill I heard a gobble. We set up and started working this bird and Boom A shot range out from the land owners gun! He beat me to the old thunder chicken Ive been dreaming about for the last month. But all is fair I was on the public land near his fence. So that ended my hunt at 7:00 am. We went to another area I know of and all I saw was their tracks. Fresh stuff but My dad was beat so we called it a day and now I just walked in the door time for a shower.
Hopefully next weekend is better since We drew a limited hunt in Lake medocino. But I be goin out tomorrow and than wen. and thursday; Than Ill be leaving for the great north of Cali Friday.
Kj, I really thought I had that bird:( but there is always next time.
Good luck Joe, We know it won't be long before ya'll are head steppin!
Joe, your hunt sounds like what 4-5 other buddies discribed.
I am going out tomorow morning and hopefully get on some birds before another wave of rain moves in.
Good luck to everyone tomorrow.
God Bless

Didn't feel like getting soaked today, took care of some honey do's, will be after em the next few days once the weather gets better............................ :you_rock:
Good luck to ya :z-guntootsmiley:
Juan, too bad about losing the bird you'd been scouting (especially after 200yrds of waist high poison oak). Haven't heard any CA hunters who had luck today.
As I told you Lake Mendocino is pretty with lots of turkeys in the area and limited hunting pressure due to the draw. Also, I believe our rain is finally supposed to clear next week. You should have fun. Good luck!
I'm hunting locally tomorrow morning (hopefully between storms) and up in Solano county next weekend.
Good luck Joe!!
Hope the weather turns better for you.
God Bless,
David B.
