Title: A cleaned shotgun effecting pattern.
Post by: deerbasshunter3 on April 13, 2015, 10:13:20 PM
My gun was patterned and lethal. After this weekend, I took it apart and cleaned it. After I did that, I found out that I would be taking my uncle hunting; I assume he will be using my shotgun. If I use the same choke/ammo, should the pattern still be the same?

I know most everybody will say to take it to the range, but just curious.

Make sure the screws and mag cap are tight. Should be good to go.

If the barrel is cleaned it could shoot a bit tighter pattetn.  Also I second make sure everything is tight.

I always mark with a black marker where my cap tightens down. Should I have to take it apart I can put it back the same. If it is not tightened back to the same place it could change POI.

A clean barrel with ANY solvent or oily residue
WILL SHOOT DIFFERENTLY!!!
Run dry bore mops thru it and a couple light loads
To get rid of residue.
If is a Rem 870, it will most definitely affect
The POI if the cap isn't tightened down exactly
The same.
(Take it out and check it)
