Title: 26" 11-87, Sumtoy .562-5, HW 7s
Post by: Rapscallion Vermilion on April 03, 2015, 11:29:55 AM
From a 26" 20 gauge 11-87 with a Sumtoy .562-5 choke and Federal 3" HW 7s. Lasered 40 yards. These were shots 1,3, and 5, in that order after a deep cleaning followed by an alcohol patch to get out any oil or solvent. The two shots in between these were with a different choke and were not as tight or consistent.

Would be hard to draw a better patten than that.

You got a killer combo there

Not polished, just deep cleaned.  Highest I've gotten with other chokes was around 180, but not as consistent, and with some weird shaped patterns.

How was the POA in relation to the POI? I have a Charles Daly 20 ga. semi auto with a 26" bbl that I am going to dedicate to turkey hunting that uses Remington chokes. I do have a scope and mounts on order for this gun and will be here next week. Any other helpful info would be appreciated. I plan to try several choke and shot combo's to see what this monster will eat.

POI relative to POA was fine and more consistent shot-to-shot than my other chokes.  I would guess due to the wad strippers.

Magnum Blends do much better out of my 1187
These weren't Magnum Blends and I don't have your gun.  :goofball:

I get 205+- out of my 10 gauge single barrel shooting fed hvywght 7 and it is a 2 oz load. What you have is exceptional for a 20 gauge. Fed 7's will smash a turkey!!!!!

Very nice RV!!  Curious if you have patterned that .562-5 with TSS?  If so how'd it do?
No, I haven't tried it with TSS yet, but I am curious about that.  I started TSS with a Carlson's .575 and it was pretty tight, so I've settled on a Carlson's .590 for TSS.  One of big advantages I see with TSS is the pattern density, allowing me to go with wider patterns.

Nice patterns for sure! You should enjoy taking her to the woods.

I'm getting basically the same results out of my 870 with that combo and cleaning procedure.  Good luck with her this season.
