Title: chasing a gobbler I spooked 3 days ago
Post by: hrpp20 on April 03, 2015, 01:11:29 AM
Had a gobbler gobbling like crazy Tuesday morning, but he was across the creek/property line on a high ridge. I couldn't see him and he seemed like he wasn't committed. I decided to get and get closer. The second I moved he stopped gobbling. I never saw him and I didn't hear him go crashing through the woods so I don't think I scared him to bad. Going to try to slip in to the same spot in the morning and get him in sight. Any last minute tips to call him over?

I wouldn't do much different than any other hunt, I may try a different call but I would just let the bird tell me what he wants.

I had a friend run a bird out of a field corner leaving the woods one day, spooked him out of there like his arse was on fire, late the next morning all was quiet so we set up in the corner, sure enough the bird came out within minutes of the same time and I killed him after my buddy missed!

throw the kitchen sink at him  try and sound like 2 gobblers fighting , with a slate and a mouth call at the same time do fighting purrs , slap your hands on your legs to sound like wings , then set back and be patient  , had very stubborn birds come in silent to investigate the rukus... got nothing to lose
