Title: Shot my back-up gun today (Mossy 835+Jellyhead+MagBlends)
Post by: aaronward9 on March 24, 2011, 09:27:05 PM
I shot my back-up gun today if the Benelli decides to die in the near future. It's a Mossy 835 w/ 24" bbl, Jelly Head .690, and shooting Hevi Mag Blend 3 1/2", 2.25 oz. The numbers were pretty low I thought, but conditions weren't ideal today. 54 degrees and windy.  I still managed 169 pellets in the 10" at 40 yards. I am not a pellet counter as much as I am a good, even pattern person. I have not polished the barrel or done any work to the gun except run the bore snake through the barrel a few times.

I will most likely work hard on this gun after the season to make it my "turkey only" gun and use the SBE2 as a back-up.

It may not be the staggering numbers some people like, but the evenness of that 10" is nice.

Not bad for the mag blend. That's a dead turkey right there. :icon_thumright:

I to like the pattern with no real holes. Dead bird period.

Good info!  I have exact same gun....polished the barrel recently and bought Mag Blends...I'm going to borrow a friends Undertaker High Density model choke to see how that patterns...waiting on weather to clear up.

That pattern will be sufficient to 45+ yards. The .690 exit diameter of the Jellyhead won't give you staggering numbers.

That choke is too open at .705. Look for a good choke in the .670-.680 range.
