Title: SBEII best numbers with what chokes speaking heavy weights.
Post by: Strick9 on April 01, 2015, 11:10:07 AM
Just curious as to what most folks are getting out of there SBEII in the 10" and with what chokes concerning only the heavies.

I have a 24" barrel

With the RR .660

156 avg with Fed HW 3.5" 7s

190 with Hevi 13 3.5" 6s

I have a Trulock Fed HW choke which is .650 enroute as well as a Sumtoy  .650 that I traded for arriving soon.

I really want to stay with the Fed HW 7s for the speed and the 15gm/cc density so hoping to up pellet count with the .650s.

What are your outstanding combos?

Nothing at all wrong with those numbers.

It's been too long since I've shot the 3.5" shells through a Benelli barrel but a .650 choke was always the one that gave me the best results with that #7 shot shell.

The RR .650 did well and I think you'll really like the Trulock. I have no experience with the Sumtoy chokes so can't be of any help there.

Thanks,
Clark

Man that is smoking. I wonder what you would do with Hevi 6s dump those 5s.

THE 650 IS NOT FOR THE FEDERAL.

Doesn't RR recommend a .655 with a 24" barrel in the SBE2?

Yes but that's with magblends. May be different with federals

Mine shoots the 655 RR great at around 205 at 40 with 3" magblends

Got the Trulock for Fed 7s today. Upped the avg from 156 in the 10 to 196 however the patterns were consistently stacked top to bottom rectangular like like a concrete block on end even with clean bore, strange.. Can anyone relate as to why Sumtoy said above that the .650 is not for the Feds? I sent pm but havn't heard back , very curious as to whether its their materials or choke engineering?

I have a choke for them.  Now 99.9% of the chokes that we send out are for the Winchester or HV13.   I don't even like to build a choke for the federal in the small bore guns but I have and will.

Best I have seen has been a buddy of mines SBE 2/ Rhino .660 and Nitro.
He shoots 4x5x7 and straight 7's. 280's-320's.

*that would about the most expensive choke and shells you could buy.

Is it bad  that I just use the full choke tube that came with my sbe2. It seems to work ok patterning at 40yrds.
